NSW:NSW police defend Naden capture reward

New South Wales Police have defended the decision to increase the reward to help capture
accused murderer and skilled bushman MALCOLM NADEN.

The reward for information leading to NADEN's capture was increased to 250-thousand
dollars yesterday.

Police Commissioner ANDREW SCIPIONE denies the increase is a sign the police investigation
has hit a dead end.

Commissioner SCIPIONE says they're hot on NADEN's tail but they need everything to go their way.

NADEN managed to elude police for a third day after shooting a police officer in the
shoulder near the town of NOWENDOC, in the state's north, on Wednesday.

The current operation to catch NADEN is the seventh time police have tried to capture
him and police say they're prepared to shoot him if he uses a firearm to try to escape
capture.
