GARY MAN ORDERED TO REFUND INTERNET BUYERS, PAY NEARLY $30,000

The Indiana Attorney General issued the following press release:

Keyon Morris of Gary has been ordered by the Lake Circuit Court to pay nearly $30,000 as the result of a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Steve Carter. Morris sold consumers electronics such as GPS systems and a television yet failed to deliver the products.

"Whether shopping online or in a traditional store, people should be confident that they will get what they paid for," said Attorney General Steve Carter. "This is another situation where an individual is being ordered to pay far more than was originally at stake as the result of a failure to uphold their end of the bargain."

The judgment orders restitution for five out-of-state customers, civil penalties, costs and an injunction barring Morris from engaging in similar activities.

In September 2005, in an agreement filed with the Court, Morris agreed to refund four consumers as well as refrain from engaging in similar activity. The attorney general filed a lawsuit in June 26, 2006 after Morris failed to meet obligations of the previous agreement.
